Dallas Urban Futures Youth Leadership Summit

Date/Time
Date(s) - 10/19/2019
9:00 am - 4:30 pm

The Greater Dallas Urban Futures Youth Summit is a convening for middle and high school students from public, private, charter, and home schools participating in Youth and Government, Model UN and Youth Commissions in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. The summit is designed to foster critical thinking on policy issues. Students will have the unique opportunity to interact directly with scholars, politicians, cultural workers and advocates on policy specific content, while deepening their leadership skills and building a network of future leaders.

Session topics are selected for their relevance to today and tomorrow’s challenges. The goal is to teach students how to think critically about public policy formulation and its results using racial equity and sustainability lenses. Participants are encouraged and supported as the work collaboratively to create projects that address pressing problems in their schools, communities, and the world.

Open to students participating in Model UN, Youth and Government, and Dallas-area Youth Commissioners, the Youth Leadership Summit is jointly produced by the Institute for Urban Policy Research, YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, and the Dallas Youth Commission.
