Owen Wilson-Chavez is an urban geographer and open data enthusiast who works to advance the use of data in decision-making process in nonprofits and government. Throughout his career, Owen has focused on projects ranging from economic impact analysis of transit-oriented development to community-based planning projects that help empower residents in shaping the future of their communities.

Owen is currently the Director of Analytics at the Child Poverty Action Lab, a nonprofit organization that aims to reduce child poverty in Dallas by 50% over the next twenty years. At CPAL, Owen works to identify data and analytical strategies to help address one of the most pressing issues facing our city today. This work brings together Owen's passion for using data to develop sound strategy and highlighting the relationships between other complex issues that contribute to child poverty.

Prior to joining CPAL, Owen spent 5 years leading bcANALYTICS, the data and analytics team at buildingcommunityWORKSHOP, as well as serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at University of North Texas' Center for Economic Development and Research (now the Economics Research Group). Owen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Geography from the University of North Texas, and lives in Kidd Springs with his dog, Romeo.
